Welcome to Class 4

In September, year 4 will be starting the year with our interesting theme on Ancient Egyptians. During this theme we will be looking at all things Egyptians - from everyday life in Ancient Egypt: food, houses, farming and jobs to looking at the importance of the River Nile to the Egyptians. We will be looking at Egyptian gods and goddesses, and discovering all about mummification. Children will have the chance to explore the rituals associated with the burials of the pharaohs, including the discovery of Tutankhamun. Across the whole term we will be expanding and strengthening our knowledge on our topic of Ancient Egyptians, through other curriculum subjects. In English we will be writing instructions on how to make a mummy, exploring the coded writing of hieroglyphics, and we will be lookng at patterns and how nature inspired these in Art.
